We are currently working with
guides and teachers in Egypt to bring you a fabulous fortnight of belly dancing,
sightseeing and shopping. We are looking at 2008, November.
Workshop tours to Egypt.
11 days of fabulous fun in Egypt. Tours will include dance workshops,
sight seeing and shopping.
Everyone is welcome, including partners. Activities will be made available
for those not interested in the workshops.

BEHIND THE VEIL
Itinerary
for 11 Day Oriental Dance and Cultural Tour of Cairo and (Alexandria - may
change)
Day
1
Arrive
Cairo and transfer to Mokkatam,
Tour of villa and accommodation
Unpack - Visit Madam Abla or one of the famous costume designers
Swimming at
villa for those who do not want to purchase costumes etc.
Dinner or Barbecue at Villa
Cultural Orientation and/or Language Class
Early night
Day 2
Breakfast
Visit
Pyramids, Sakkara
Kerdasa (Bedouin clothing - gallabeyas etc)
Carpet, glass and weaving workshops
Lunch Egyptian Restaurant
‘Sounds and Light (laser) show at the pyramids
Night club Pyramids Road (oriental dancing and supper) for those interested
Return to Villa. Mokkatam
Day 3
Breakfast
3 hr dance workshop + discussion on history of dance in Egypt with Prof Hassan
Khalil.
Afternoon free time in Villa, swimming etc. or visit Arabian bathhouse, massage
and beauty parlour.
Dinner African Restaurant Nasr City (fantastic atmosphere and food)
Celebrate birthday, christening or wedding with Egyptian families for those
interested in participating or return to Villa.

4
Egyptian Museum
Walking tour of Islamic Cairo
Shopping Khan Khalili for accessories and ready made costumes
Mokkatam (change of clothes)
Nile Cruise dinner and oriental dance show
Return to Villa. Mokkatam

5
Breakfast (note - Alexandria section may be changed due to distance)
Alexandria (by coach 3 ½ hrs) on the journey discussion about dance in
Alexandria
Tours around Alex
Arrange to eat at Seagulls Seafood restaurant (best Seafood in Alex)
Overnight in Alex at 3 star hotel
Day 6
Breakfast
Arrange swimming in 5 star hotel or in the lovely Mediteranean Sea
Visit Alexandria Bibliotech (famous library)
Return Cairo
Dinner Merrylands (Garden Egyptian Restaurant on lake) or African Restaurant
Nasr
Walk around Korba (great shopping area) and look at shops
Return to Villa. Mokkatam
Day
7
Early breakfast
3 hr class
Citadel tour (Mohamed Ali Mosque)
Mosques Sultan Hassan Rafai and Ibn Tulun
Gaynor Anderson Museum to view best collection of Islamic
Art in Cairo housed in traditional older Cairo dwellings (If time permits)
Night at Citadel for dinner (Al Hazar Gardens) and watch famous Tannoura Show
Return to Villa. Mokkatam
Day 8
Breakfast
3 hr class
Shopping City Stars (best Mall in Cairo and has an upmarket Khan el Khalili
section)
Zemalak and Pub 28 Dinner (English/Egyptian Pub with lovely food and atmosphere)
Marriott Hotel for Coffee (beautiful hotel on water that was once a Palace)
Tour Cairo by night on way home to Mokkatam
Return to Villa. Mokkatam
Day
9
Breakfast
Coptic Cairo including the Hanging Church, Church of the Virgin
(Mary was there with baby Jesus) and other Coptic sites
Sail on a Felucca on the Nile. Lunch
available to purchase.
Mokkatam to change for dinner
5 star hotel for dinner and watch famous Egyptian dancer
Return to
Villa. Mokkatam
Day10
3 hr class
Free time to pack or go to Khan for last minute shopping and collect any
costumes etc.
Dinner and Party at Villa with some dancing

11
Breakfast
Final dance class (if time permits need to check flight times)
Depart Cairo

need to include shopping for costumes early to allow for fittings and time for
the costumers or sewers to make it. You
can bring your own designs and fabric if you like or you can select a style with
the costumer or your choice.
